Dammit, people, now I want Chinese food!!
You make that sound like a bad thing
It's a bad thing when you're out of money!!! lol
Depends how out of money you are. A billion chinese eat chinese almost every day on an average of $1000/yr.
I bought a bag of rice tuesday, 3 pounds for $1. It's not sushi rice; on my bike I would need to make a special trip to find sushi rice (any old short-grain would do.) I was torn between the cheap white rice and the twice-as-much-for-half-the-size instant rice, since i have a short attention span and no rice cooker and now and then burn the rice.
I have veggies, not from my garden at this time of year, but stuff the market is throwing away works just as well.
Broccoli stalks and the outer cabbage leaves are examples of stuff they
don't want and don't mind giving to me that work well in stir-fry
I have a wok (although i use my skillet) some oil, some toasted sesame oil and sesame seeds, various hot sauces and soy sauces and curries. I have some leftover oyster mushrooms and cilantro. So I am all set to fry some rice.
Recipes all over the net, but the concept is simple, steam some rice, chop up some veggies, heat the pan, add the oil, quick fry the veggies 2 minutes, add the rice cook another minute or two.
If this is your first time, buy a box of rice-a-roni and follow the directions; that's all there is to the dish.
I have the nice fancy plastic asian dishes, and I could make tea and dig out the chopsticks, and i have almond cookies.
Now if only I had someone to cook for.

ok, seems to be a theme here already.
last night: stirfry: zuke, cabbage leaves, black eyed peas, scallions, taco bell packets, oyster mushrooms.
maybe i should make some rice w that.
breakfast: decaf x 3, donuts, last cinnamon raisin crumpet.
the innovative thing about this dish is i cooked the blackeyed from scratch instead of opening a can. i figure it keeps the kitchen warm. i've had the blackeyed peas so lomng i don't remember if i bought them; the rest was dumpster.
i'm gaining weight since i started giving plasma, cuz i go out more and so i find more food. the blackeyed peas and the oyster mushrooms are about the last of the food that was in the house before i started restocking. nice to go thru it all like that now and then, tibetan style. right now i'm putting off taking bath and doing plasma.
